Google partners with Walmart Connect to enhance YouTube ad performance insights
Google announced a new partnership with Walmart Connect, allowing advertisers to use Walmart's audience and measurement data in Google Display & Video 360 to evaluate the impact of YouTube ads on Walmart store sales. Additionally, Google is testing richer Local Services Ads formats for real estate listings, providing detailed information such as pricing, images, and key home features, supported by the HouseCanary data platform.

Google recently announced a new partnership with Walmart Connect, the retail media division of Walmart, aimed at providing advertisers with deeper advertising performance insights, enabling them to understand how Google ad campaigns impact sales lift at Walmart stores. At the same time, Google also launched a new test of expanded real estate promotions for Local Services Ads to display more detailed property listings.
Core of the partnership: Leveraging Walmart audience insights to optimize YouTube ads
According to the announcement on Google's official blog, this partnership will allow Google advertisers to use consumer purchase insights from Walmart to measure the effectiveness of their ad campaigns. Google stated: "Brands can now use audience insights from Walmart, the number one omnichannel retailer in the U.S., and reach its 150 million weekly U.S. customers through YouTube ad campaigns. They can then see how these ads impact Walmart sales."
Specifically, advertisers will be able to use Walmart Connect's audience and measurement capabilities within Google Display & Video 360. Additionally, brands will benefit from Gemini AI tools in their campaigns, enabling a "more connected approach to planning, activation, and measurement" across the shopper journey.
This added insight capability is expected to provide key data points for advertising performance, helping advertisers more accurately measure the direct return on investment (ROI) of their Google ad campaigns.
Expanded real estate ads: Providing richer property listing details
In addition to the retail partnership, Google is also working to provide more information to real estate buyers, testing richer Local Services Ads for property listings. Google explained: "When buyers are looking for a home, this expanded format showcases relevant property details—such as pricing, images, and key home features—powered by a partnership with HouseCanary's rich data platform. Buyers can then call, message, or book a viewing with a local agent directly from the ad."
Google stated that the updated real estate Local Services Ads will enable agents to generate higher-intent leads based on more specific property information and broader insights.
However, the actual effectiveness of these expanded ads is difficult to assert, as a key part of real estate promotion lies in retaining a certain level of detail in property listings to encourage potential buyers to make direct inquiries. But perhaps, through this enhanced approach, it can attract more active buyers to submit genuine inquiries, thereby reducing low-value follow-ups.
