Kate Spade has appointed Allison Badea as its new Chief Marketing Officer. According to a LinkedIn post by Kate Spade earlier this week, Badea brings years of experience from L'Oréal Group, most recently serving as Senior Vice President of Global Brand Experience at Maybelline New York.

"Kate Spade New York has always understood that joy is not just an indulgence—it's a fundamental human need," Badea said in a statement. "This brand has believed in that value since the '90s, and I look forward to thinking about how to re-engage consumers who are craving optimism and connection."

According to Badea's LinkedIn profile, she has also worked with the Kiehl's Since 1851 and Giorgio Armani Beauty U.S. brands.

This executive is not the only L'Oréal alum at Kate Spade. The fashion brand, owned by Tapestry Inc., appointed Eva Erdmann as President and CEO in 2024. Erdmann previously served as Global President of Urban Decay Cosmetics at L'Oréal.

In the years since Erdmann took office, Kate Spade has not become a highlight in Tapestry's overall performance. In Tapestry's third quarter, Coach sales grew over 31% year-over-year to $1.7 billion; Kate Spade sales declined 10% in that quarter to approximately $220 million.

Despite this, Tapestry's overall sales saw double-digit growth in the third quarter, with net profit rising about 70% to $343.8 million. In its LinkedIn post about Badea's appointment, the company said it is "re-igniting the magic of Kate Spade New York."
